Relief from Occasional Gas and Bloating*
Gastro contains four different types of enzymes that break down carbohydrates such as starch, glycogen and related polysaccharides.* These are found in grains, seeds, beans, vegetables and other plants. It is very common to experience discomfort when digesting these types of foods. Symptoms range from occasional gas and bloating to indigestion and other imbalances.

Most often, gas results from fermentation of undigested food, such as plant fiber, in the colon. When added to a meal as a supplement, Gastro can assist the body in breaking down and assimilating these types of foods.* This takes stress off the gallbladder, liver and pancreas.* Moreover, Gastro has a very high amount of the enzyme alpha-galactosidase that is imperative in digesting the sugars from legumes (beans) and other foods that create gas and bloating.*

The Importance of Carbohydrates
Carbohydrates are our main source of bodily fuel, both immediate and in the long term. They are necessary to sustain life, as other food nutrients (fat and protein) cannot be properly assimilated by the body without them. They are not only needed to support protein and fat metabolism, but they help to fight infection, promote the growth of bones and assist in skin rejuvenation.

Carbohydrates provide a continuous source of energy for us between meals and even while we are sleeping. Low intake of carbohydrates will decrease one’s ability to function optimally throughout the day. Complex carbohydrates are found in healthy foods such as vegetables; these are very rich in minerals, vitamins and other nutrients necessary for optimal health. They are slow to digest, and not immediately transformed into sugar the way simple carbohydrates are.

Some medical experts recommend that 45-65% of our diet be made up of a combination of these essential ‘complex’ (vegetables) and ‘simple’ (sugars) carbohydrates.1*

The enzyme amylase, which is in Gastro, is needed to break down and assimilate carbohydrates, which supports every cell of the body.
